Combatting HIV/AIDS in Mozambique and the Vertical Transmission of the virus

Descrizione: The aim of this project is to expand the number of people receiving treatment and services from the DREAM Program, without sacrificing the quality of the services. The project will also assist the Mozambican government to improve services offered for Prevention of Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) during pregnancy, labor, and breastfeeding, with the the ultimate goal of eliminating new cases of AIDS in children. In order to obtain these objectives, various services of high quality will be offered along with antiretroviral treatment including advanced diagnosis, nutritional evaluation and supplementation for all malnourished patients, psychological support, and home care.

Beneficiaries: Directly serving approximately 44,200 patients and pregnant women living with HIV/AIDS and their children. Considering the weight that the disease has on their society, this program will indirectly help 160,000 other people.
