Description: Project Malawi is a program created in 2005 by Intesa Sanpaolo and Cariplo Foundation initiative with the aim of creating a barrier to AIDS starting from prevention of HIV transmission from mother and child. The program supports public health actions targeted to limit the impact of the disease on the population and the economic recovery of the country through an integrated intervention of the project’s partners in their respective areas of expertise: health, nutrition, care for orphans, prevention, and local development. The view on the fight against AIDS has completely changed in the country. Through this project the country has become a world leader in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission.
Beneficiaries: Over nine years the project will provide assistance to 40,000 persons living with HIV/AIDS, to ensure that approximately 8,000 children to be born free of HIV
